Allow site administrators to switch a field mapped to a content type or topic type from optional/required
Reported by Honiana Love | May 28th, 2009 @ 05:53 PM | in 1.3
Is there any way to remove or change the settings for a field once it is in the Current Form Fields without deleting the entire content type setting? I would like to reset the manditory and optional settings on some fields.

Hi Honiana,
There is a fairly simple wait to do it for programmers. If you send me a list of the changes you would like made I can take care of it.
That said, this is a long standing request. There are some technical hurdles mainly related to existing data that have made me put this aside repeatedly.
Perhaps in 1.3 we'll get to it.

For now lets limit the scope of this to changing whether a field is optional or required. This is pretty straightforward to implement.
Essentially it will tie-in to the existing for reordering the field order.

This work has been completed. You can delete a field if it doesn't have any data associated with it (see ticket #9). You can also switch fields from optional to required and back now. Resolving ticket.
