Extract Search Sources into Rails Engine, make configurable, and extend functionality
Reported by Kieran P | June 30th, 2009 @ 11:18 AM | in 1.3
- Extract the search sources code into a rails engine.
- Create a configuration class for people to easily make changes via an initializer
- Extend so that the limit is passed to the feed fetch method (if the search source supports it, it can make getting results faster)
- Extend so that boolean operators are passed to the feed fetch method (which helps make more defined searches possible, e.g. 'this AND that NOT then')
- Extend so that quotes (single or double) are treated as grouped phrases (for exact matches, e.g. '"this n that"')
- Add fixture data that users can import via web interface. In the case of DNZ feeds, add a textbox for the api key, and link to the page to get one if the user doesn't have one.
- Write a bunch of tests for it, and include thorough documentation in README.rdoc
