Production zebra database populated during testing

Reported by Kieran P | July 30th, 2008 @ 04:44 PM

The zebra database configured for the application is populated during functional testing.

This causes issues where you might want to run functional tests in place on a live Kete instance or if you want to run functional tests without configuring a second zebra instance and re-configuring the application.

Options to get around this might be:

– Set up production, development and test zebra databases for each application similar to what is already done for databases.

– Refactor acts_as_zoom to turn zebra off when running in the test environment (this would make it impossible to test zebra integration.

Other suggestions welcome.

Kieran has implemented a warning that tells the tester that Zebra will be used (potentially corrupting their production search indexes) and asking them if they want to continue.

That is only an interim solution until we create a proper test instance of Zebra.

    Cheers, Walter
